Hello All,

I am in the process of moving sites between servers and I backed up the sites and sent them over to /home/admin/user_backups/ on the new server. However, when I try to restore I am getting the error :-

********************* begin message *****************
Unable to read /home/admin/backups/backup/mydomain.com/mydomain.com.db : Can't open file /home/admin/backups/backup/mydomain.com/mydomain.com.db for reading
********************* end message *******************

For some strange reason DA is looking for the backups in /backups/backup/.

I even tried moving the files into the directory /backups/backups/ and I am getting an error of directory doesn't exist but the files are there!!

I go back into the Manage User Backups under the Reseller "Admin" to do the restore but the system shows that it is looking for the files under /user_backups/ so no files are listed now and there is no way in the DA Control Panel to change the path for the backup files!

So what do I do?

Regards,

Errol

Errol, your post is perhaps a bit confusing to me.

Did you use the admin level Admin Backup/Transfer BETA link? That's known to not work properly for a lot of users.

Otherwise if you used the reseller level Manage User Backups section for backups then you must manually move the backup into position on the new server for restore using the same feature.

And if you used the user level Create/Restore Backups section for backups, then you must manually move those backups into position on the new server as well.

Backups should be moved to the same directory on the new server as they were created in on the old server.

Jeff,

I normally Backup and Restore using Manage User Backups and the backup are usually stored under /user_backups/. However, yesterday I tried restoring a couple of sites over to the a new DA installation running 1.292 but I keep getting the error:

(The real domain has been rename as mydomain for security)

********************* begin message *****************
Unable to read /home/admin/backups/backup/mydomain.com/mydomain.com.db : Can't open file /home/admin/backups/backup/mydomain.com/mydomain.com.db for reading
********************* end message *******************

So as a result I tried moving the site into /home/admin/backups/backup/ but Manage User Backups does not allow restore from that location. Here is the error message I received:

Domain mydomain.com Created

Domain Created Successfully

Unable to read /home/tbowles/backups/backup/mydomain.com/mydomain.com.db : Can't open file /home/tbowles/backups/backup/mydomain.com/mydomain.com.db for reading

As a last resort I tried using the admin level Admin Backup/Transfer BETA link which allowed me to restore from any location but no joy either as in the message below:

File does not exist or you don't have access to file /home/admin/backups/backup/tbowles.tar.gz

Also the httpd service goes down and I am unable to restart it!

I hope the confusion has been cleared up now.

regards,

Errol

Hi Errol,

how did you fix this in the end? I have the same problem when I try to restore users on a different server. It refers to this non-existing /backups/backup/ folder.

(en mysql databases refuse to get restored because of access denied).

Thanks for your feedback!
