are there 2 locations for changing DNS settings ?

I have a shared hosting package.

There is a hostingprovider control panel when I login. From here there is access to the Direct Admin panel.
In both panels there are DNS input fields.

What is the difference between these 2 input forms? Because making a change in the DA panel DNS setting does not automatically change them at hosting provider level.
What is the reason for this ?
 
Depends what you want to do, in short :
1. DNS at your own servers: Easy for you each change you make at your NS servers are propagated directly, at least 2 Ip is recommend
2. DNS at your registrar: Cost effective. Every change of NS values in DA must repeated at your hostingprovider. can be tricky, 1 IP is sufficient
