I should have paid a bit more attention in that computing class!

I figure as long as we're not all talking about the Alliance for the Polyurethanes Industry we should be fine! :D

this whoiscart looks good,
your site linkdisk.com accepts credit cards, is that part of WhoisCart or something you added?

Whois.cart accepts credit cards but they don't give you a merchant account; you have to set that up yourself separately.

Jeff

I can only speak for those of us in the U.S.; your merchant bank must be in the same country as you are.

Yes, there's often an application fee, almost always a setup fee, sometimes an annual fee, always several monthly fees and monthly minimums.

I'd expect about $30 - $40 per month.

I have a connection with a merchant service which will accept webhost companies and if recommended through me will avoid the application and setup fees.

Or use PayPal in the U.S., or one of the other services if not in the U.S.

You can use paypal in the UK, aswell as many other counties also :)

The biggest problem is only US bank accounts can add funds to an account which kind of defeats the purpose of having it internationally  - although the new system seems a lot better and the problem *is* fading out.

I know of a merchant account from www.payquake.com which charges $50.00 per year and uses Authorise Net as a gateway. I e-mailed them and asked if there is a seperate gateway fee and they told me no. You should check out all details and make sure this is true your self before you sign up though. I also asked if they had a cancelation fee and they also told me no. be sure to read any fine print before you sign up with any merchant account. And I repeat read all the fine print! If you can't find it; ask for it.

Did you ask them if there's a separate authorize.net fee?

They don't say anything about that on their site.

Jeff

Yes, I did ask if there is a seperate fee for authorize net and they said no. Actually I went on thier site last night and looked at this page http://payquake.com/apply/ and it also states that the gateway is included. I asked this question more than a year ago, so they may have changed gateways? I used to pay 19.00 per month just for the Authorize Net gateway! Plus the merchant account fees. I made the mistake of not reading the EULA because when I clicked on the link to the EULA the link was broken and being inexperienced I signed up anyway. So when I cancelled with my merchant they automaticaly deducted $199.00 or $299.00 out of my account. This is why I can't stress enough to make sure you read the agreement very carefuly! I know you are experienced Jeff. But for all you beginners learn from my mistakes.

From PayQuakes Site http://payquake.com/apply/
Are these prices a good deal? Our services are always bundled with an internet Payment Gateway. If you would like to see what many other competitors are offering for a stand-alone merchant account, check out InfoMerchant.net and see. Keep in mind that you'll have to pay extra for a terminal or a Payment Gateway.

Anther popular option which is supported by the Whois Cart is 2checkout I remember that they charge a one time free of $50.00 and no other monthly or yearly fee. It's not a real merchant account but it is probobly the best bet for the beginner. http://www.2checkout.com/

We use CDG Commerce for our Merchant account.

They offer special pricing for hosts and have no setup fees. You only pay the monthly gateway fee ($15/mo for Authorize.net) and monthly statement fee ($10) which you will pay for any respectable merchant account. No monthly minimums like most merchant accounts, no annual fees and no cancellation fees. The processing rates are also very good:

Per Transaction: 2.30% + .35

And, you get all of this as well:

FREE Gateway Setup
FREE Recurring Billing
FREE Merchant Setup
FREE Amex/Discover/Diner's*
FREE E-Check Setup
FREE Shopping Cart
FREE Integration Help

We are using the merchant account we got through them with ModernBill and DA and we are very happy with it. Our rep Chris West ([email protected]) is one of the friendliest and easiest people to deal with!

This is their current promotion for hosts:

and for a belgian host, would cdgcommerce work ?

any european host here using any "cheap" merchant account ?

We are looking for this kind of service but didn't find anything yet. 2checkout and paypal are the only two ones we now yet..
