Ok as said in subject this is going to be once more about Awstats...
Yes i know awstats, used to be a plugin, and used to be considered 3d party, but since it has become integrated to DA, i think it is time DA gets also on this problem, and allow us to come up with solutions.
I must say, that latest AWstats DA integration is poor, and lacks of many features that, plugin or standalone awstats i have on other server do not meet... And as from now on it is integrated, i do not "take the risk" of modifying any conf used by DA, in case it would break both AWstats and DA...
Since plugin version, i get to understand Awstats has deprecated following implementations available prior in the plugin version :
- Quick navigation menu :
We have in the plugin version, a quick link menu on the left..which does not exist anymore. In fact, it does exist but on top of page and does not remain once scrolling has began. (Very pratical if you go bottom of page)
- Allow web update :
We allowed users to launch a web update for statistics, this is not anymore possible.
- Country identification :
This has become impossible : I suppose geoip is not install by DA when installing awstats.
- Hosts :
Dns resolv of ip adress is impossible... Same thing as above, lacking a package ?
- Language :
Language selection is impossible, forcing a selected language in conf files, doesn't change global presentation...
This is very intelligent... Awstats is only english allowed in DA, when you could regionalize awstats in plugin version and select language...
This is a deprecation of an important feature...
- Period Report :
Another major deprecation is the fact that new awstats, cannot cope directly month / year changes from the Awstats page zone.
I mean, when one of our clients need to compare montly statistics, it is incredible that you "accept" to force your clients to come back in admin panel, and not to be able to change directly from drop down box awstats offers in its standalone and in the old plugin version...
Did you even test this and wonder if it was pratical or usable ?
i'll go even further... I use hosting controller for our clustered clients, that need the "security" and redundancy directadmin is unable to offer... I'd not even imagine how my ears would blow off if i turned them on this crap version DA installs default...
Please review your copy, and offer patch solutions for DA version of awstats..
