I can't live without Awstats

It would be nice to have it included, even though it's easy enough to install and manage.

I think there are much more exiting things DA could work on (just my opinion, and does take away the fact that I too would like to see awstats included)

i think that AWstats need to be instead of Webalizer.
and the admin can disable AWstats for some users / domains.

i did that and after a tally it was really busy with it i guess but i can't see awstats anywhere on DA or on the websites?

i keep seeing only Domain Webalizer Stats

thats all nothing of awstats

In /usr/local/directadmin/conf/

open up directadmin.conf and add the following:

awstats=1

webalizer=0
is allready there

Did you restart DirectAdmin? It does not apply changes without a restart.
