Backup plans for faulty drives

Thanks

I've used bacula (www.bacula.org) and works very well.

Now I'm using Amanda (www.amanda.org). I like amanda over bacula because do not use a database server.

Amanda seems confusing but once you understand its logic is very simple.

bacula.org is for the open source project. I was lost in all of that so I opted for the enterprise version that provided support. I'm no genius and some stuff is too important to rely on me getting things right the first time.

Does amanda do Bare Metal Restores?

Hi

with amanda, you should do a minimal install of the operating system, install the amanda client and do a full restore from the last backup. In this way the server is exactly as it was at the last backup. Amanda delete files that were not in the last backup.
