Hi everyone, I'm considering switching from cPanel to DirectAdmin, so I took a vps to do some testing and try DirectAdmin in the field.
So far I find it suitable for my purposes, but the only thing I can`t set up as I would like is the backup.

If I go to Admin Tolls > Admin Backups/Transfers I see that I can set some options (Users - Cron Schedule - destination and data), but I don`t understand how to limit for the number of backups to keep.

For example, if I make a daily backup, is there a way to keep the last 30 backups?

Thanks

The is no way to do this with DirectAdmin by design.
What I found tho, is that if a file exists that has the same name as the backup file, it will override it.
So if you are clever with your naming it could work.
BUT USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

This may be a solution thanks, if I use the option "Day of Month" I assume that the daily backups will be overwritten the next month.
I am surprised though that there is not something more appropriate.

I personally find the DirectAdmin backup great! You can even restore directly from a remote location.

The backup gives a few options.

The daily one is really the one you are after.
It will create folders with the day number of the month e.g. 1,2,3,4,5,6…..31 as each day is backed up it will overwrite the same day number.

use it with something like rsync.net and hetzner storage boxes, you can extend the storage at the destination as well.

A major improvement would be if there were support for destinations such as BackBlaze B2 and Amazon S3.

You can actually use rclone for this. I used this before (posted sample script in this forum long time ago).

I made a post in the same moment you made this one:
sync backups with Backblaze B2
I'm not sure if the current backup script compatible with the new directadmin version (haven't tested). It was 100% working but now with some major version from da, I dont know if it is still working. But after I made test and everything is OK, i will publish the script in public github
