What is the best payment gateway available? I was looking at 2Checkout and myPaySystems. For now I'll be going with a payment gateway rather than a merchant account so what is the best one you all think? Actually what is everyone's experience with the various gateways, their charges, etc?

I use paypal for reoccuring payments and online sales, and I have a authorize.net account for the big credit card sales and all mail order/phone order/face to face sales.

What are the fee's associated with Authorize.Net? Do they offer credit card processing machines, software, etc, etc?

to get a authorize.net login, you have to get a merchant account. There is no monthly fees, just a $49 a year fee and a small fee each time I process a credit card or validate a credit card.

I use my laptop and the authorize.net website to take credit cards, for face to face sales. At this time I don't want to jump into a lease on one of those portible credit card swipers. I may buy one some where down the line though.

Wow thats not bad at all. I was thinking based on what some of my other business associates and friends have told me that there is a monthly recurring fee with some of them.

If I sign up with Authorize.Net, how quickly can I have that module integrated with my Whois.Cart payment software to have people buying immediately?

Who do you get your merchant account from?

I've been accepting cards for years, and I've never found as low a price; I'd like to speak with your merchant account provider.

Thanks.

www.payquake.com

I haven't ever moved up from the "Pay for Play" plan, which has a 3.79% discount rate. I don't have a sales volume large enough to make it worth paying for a better rate. But even for the highest sales merchants, it's only $19.95 a month and comes with a 1.63% discount rate.

I think this is close to how it works. You have a merchant account, which is provided by a financial company, like your local bank, or in my case payquake. They don't accept the credit card for you directly, so they negotiate with a payment gateway provider, such as linkpoint central or authorize.net in my case (there is alot of them), so you can accept payments via the internet or over the phone or with a credit card swiper, ect.

So in short, it takes 2 company's to provide you your merchant service in most cases.

So it costs $49/yr + transaction fee for PayQuake... and how much does it cost from Authorize.net?

If you get authorize.net thru payquake, it is free. Other companys charge $20 or $30 bucks for it, and pocket for themselves.

That sounds like a really great deal. Whom do I goto first to sign up for this? PayQuake and then request getting authorize.net through them? Or do I goto authorize.net afterwards?

You go to payquake and tell them what you need.

Maybe to:

Accept payments via the internet.
Accept payments via mail and phone.
Accept payments with a credit card machine....
Maybe you need to do reoccuring billing, they need to know.

They'll set you up with everything you need without you having to contact other companies on your own.
