Hi,

My hardware is a Dell R510 2x 2.4GHz Quad, 16GB, 12x 1TB (Raid 6)

I want to install Directadmin 1.45 custombuild 2.0 with debian 7.4 64 bit.

Is this the best way to go or do you have a different opinion, or should i go with a different configuration, please advise.

Why use raid6? I have never heard of anyone use raid6 in a hosting environment. You definitely should switch to raid10.

Yes, raid6 is used in backup servers, no hosting. You have to use raid10 or at least raid1.

Raid6 is very slow in read operations.

If You have exact configuration with 12x1tb HDD, and will not use SSD/NVME - it will be better to make:
2x1tb RAID1 for OS (/boot /tmp(noexec,nosuid,nodev) /)
4x1tb RAID10 for /home
6x1tb RAID10 for mysql and backup
