Blackberry 7230 - forward all mail (but keep new)

Hey folks,

I am getting a RIM Blackberry 7230 phone here shortly. I will be able to get all my e-mail from the phone. I wanted to setup MOST of my e-mail accounts to forward all NEW e-mail to <[email protected]>. However, I STILL want to download the "new" mail into my MOZILLA SUITE. I do not want my blackberry to download ALL mail and delete it off of the server. Can anyone help out with this?

Someone stated this on another forum, but not really sure what he is talking about:
Fortunately there is a workaround to use IMAP with Blackberry. There are several ways to do this.
1) You must forward your domain email to the BWC (Blackberry Web Client) address either from your domain forwarding account or the forwarding rules settings in your web-based IMAP email account. (I do this using FastMail.fm's forwarding rules, this enables me the benefit of Fastmail's spam-protection and anti-virus.) You can't use the BWC to download IMAP mail, it won't sync correctly.
2) Setup your IMAP account in Thunderbird as usual with your folders. We can use your domain indentity in Thunderbird, by leaving the IMAP server IMAP/SMTP settings alone, and changing the email identiity, reply-to and signature to the domain identity. Also, setup the BCC settings to automatically forward to your BWC account in Thunderbird.

never used a blackberry before but doesn't i have some kind of pop client that you can tell it not to delete messages off the server?
 
Check with your Blackberry provider; I have at least one client using a Blackberry and I know he leaves mail on the server.

The original poster posted a snippet from a post somewhere in which the respondent said he couldn't use the blackberry directly with IMAP; that it doesn't work.

He proposed a workaround.

You wrote that the user should just connect directly to the mailserver using IMAP.

From the context, I presumed you meant using a blackberry.

I have no personal experience with the blackberry, but based on the experience of my user who has it, and based on the original post, I wasn't sure you could do that, so I asked you.

I'd love to know the answer, and if so, how to do it.

on the RIM ( blackberry ) they do say it does IMAP I belive, but like any wireless device it is going to be slow.

Personally I use Blackberry Enterprise Server for my Blackberry ( with exchange on the back end ) and ohhhh so sweet ! Wireless sync of my calander, e-mail, and all that good stuff ! Once you go enterprise you will never go back !

Anyway, back to earth now... :)

With the POP forwarder, on the outlook side you should be able to configure it to sync messages wirelessly where the application forwards them off to your handheld. Although it could be slightly confisuing if you get an e-mail in your inbox on the handheld, and reply. The reply would not be in your local computer as it would only be on your blackberry.

The RIM application is ok, and does the job nicely... i would stick with a POP there, its much better than IMAP which is great, but sometimes as we all know, just slow.

Don't ask me abou the cost of the Enterprise Server, I dropped $3400 for the 20 user license for it, plus exchange 2003 at another $1800 or so. Sadly, it's only used for 5 users !!! ha ha But, MAN IS IT SWEET !
