I set up 5 e-mails for my website and sent a test message to one of them but cant find where to open the e-mail? I see that the e-mail account is created, but how do you use it? Where do I go?
Thanks

First thanks for the extra large text. I'm not that old and don't wear glasses so please keep your fonts to a more appropriate size.

In the welcome email that your provider sent there is most likely a some directions on how to setup your email client (outlook) to work with your domain and the URL to your web mail.

You can usually access your web mail by going to http://www.YourDomain.com/webmail/

If using your email client your POP3 and SMTP mail server address is probably something like mail.YourDomain.com

If none of these work you should contact your provider.

Sorry jishh,
I was not aware that you were the only one that answers these threads.
As for MY eye sight, I AM old, and need reading glasses.
Also, the spam ad link you gave me does not help me acess my new web mail accounts.
As "appropiate" Im not sure if thats not subjective?
Thanks

Need REAL help e-mail.

Can someone PLEASE give me instructions on how to access the new e-0mails a person sets up on a newly hosted account?

Thanks

Cant open new e-mail accounts

OK, I created several e-mails for my website.
I can "SEE" that the accounts exist, but cannot open any of them to check my mail?

Also, is "web mail" something seperate? Because I have not bothered with that.
Please try and give me a basic step by step, rather than "sho talk" that I am not yet familiar?

Thanks Guys.

Paul

Be sure your using the entire email address as the username when attempting to login to the account. For the most part email addresses setup by DA (except for the master accounts) are virtual, so the entire email address is required for authentication.

Hope this helps.

We're not here to teach you the mechanics of developing/maintaining a website. Your hosting provider may or may not do that; generallly the cheaper ones don't. We're a forum for DirectAdmin administrators and hosting companies using DirectAdmin, and DirectAdmin has nothing to do with the mechanics of webiste development and maintenance.

You'd probably be much better off finding a forum for beginning site designers and administrators, or with a good book on the basics of site creation and maintenance.

We don't like duplicate posts. Please find your old post and delete it.

This post has been moved to a more appropriate sub-forum.

@paulscott,

While jissh is not the only one who responds to posts, it's important for you to realize that large text is an equivalent of shouting (as is all caps), and most of us don't like to discuss things with people who shout.

I, too, have eyesight deteriorating with age. I use reading glasses. If I get to the point where I need more help than reading glasses I'll consider changing settings on my own desktop system to make all type larger, instead of just posting in larger type, which tends to annoy people as well as not solving the problem of reading replies. If my eyesight gets worse than that I'll probably get blind-reader software to speak the posts to me, or learn braille and get a braille terminal; they're actually quite good now.

As far as how to use webmail, you need to ask your hosting company. As far as logging into email, you should also ask your hosting company, as these things all differ based on the software your hosting company uses.

I'm trying to merge the two threads; it may look a bit confusing.

SPAM ad link? LOL

Your supposed to replace YourDomain.com with your actual domain. If I knew what your domain actually was I would have gave you a direct link right to it.

Have you tried reading this http://www.site-helper.com/email.html or contacting your provider?

Sorry about yesterday, I was actying like a litlle Btch hu?
OK I said it so you dont have to...

It gets so frustrating sometimes how a small think can delay the overall process.
And those fonts...haha...I only wanted to make them say a size 12, but there are only so many choices. Ill just use my glasses.
Let me try to follow the above suggestions and see what happens.
Thanks.

Hey, thanks for the heads up!
I know about using caps, but didnt know about the large letters!
A girl once sent me an e-mail with the type slightly larger and I thought, hey, this is nice! Well, now I know better to use large type justr to use it.

Because this is the DA forum, I assumed this was my hosting company's board...no? (vindo)
As for your above suggestions, yes, you are right, but I thought that I was in a Vindo forum here and so everyone would be familiar with these things because all had to set up their own accounts using the same. So here is not the place to get help with using this control panel?
OK I'll have to try contacting them another way.

Even though I graduated with honor after five years of electrical school I found that not everything is "in the book."
There are many common mistakes people make that you cannot just "look up."
Thats when you go and ask a more experienced guy and he says, "oh, I bet you forgot to do such and such."

I figured this would be the case with my two very simple questions.

I see that many people are in these forums asking a lot a of very basic questions and getting answers, so I dont know why I

"belong somewhere else." Perhaps Vindo should not give us this link?
All I asked is where and/or how do I access my e-mail account?
Not, how to "develop a website."

If I offended you, it is not intentional. You make feel feel very unwelcome here. PLease do not respond to any questions I have in the future if you are going to cyber bully me, ok?

Thank You very much for this staright forward answer. I appreciate it very much. I'll give it a try.
Once I get the feel of this software, perhaps I wont be so needy haha.

I have to say that CP is so much user friendly for beginners.

If it's easy enough to give the answers, you'll probably get them. If it's not (because for example we don't even know if you're using DirectAdmin, since you didn't tell us that your provider links to this forum until your last posts), we can't possibly know the answer. For example, there are two different ways to login to email (username only, which may or may not be the same as the left side of the address), or complete email address. There are also many different kinds of webmail, including those that don't even run on the same server.
Perhaps Vindo should not give us this link?
If they give it to you with the intention of avoiding their own responsibility, then no, they shouldn't. Note that DirectAdmin has it's own help system, available from your control panel login by clicking on Help, and also directly here. You can even find a sectiion specifically about webmail on this page. But again, this is generic because your provider may use one or more of many different webmail services.
All I asked is where and/or how do I access my e-mail account?
Which is the hardest question to answer of all. Some providers even use completely separate servers to manage their email; servers which work very differently than do servers using DirectAdmin.

It is not my intention to bully you, or to make you feel unwelcome here. Hopefully you'll understand that if you post here and don't get good answers you're wasting your own time; time that could be better spent researching your problem with your provider, or an another forum, or through Google. I'm just trying to be helpful.

I suppose I can sometimes feel intimidating. Look at my post count and beliee me when I tell you that most of my posts are helpful. It's my intent to be helpful even when I write that perhaps you should be looking elsewhere. I'm sorry if you take it as a personal affront; it's not meant to be that.
