Hello to everyone.

I'm having some problems regarding my smtp connection. I tried to send an email using outlook. The problem is I can't send the email. While in squirrel mail and other web-based email programs, sending emails is not a problem.

This is the log that I had.

SMTP -> FROM SERVER:
550 authentication required
SMTP -> ERROR: RCPT not accepted from server: 550 authentication required
Message sending failed.

Please advice anyone.

In outlook check the box that says Use authentication under the outgoing mail server, then click Use incoming mail server login information.

Similar problem, different message

the symptoms of my problem are the same. No problem on the webmail but through outlook it will not send. Made sure that I followed the suggestions but still get a failure. the message I get went testing the settings is:

Send test email message: Outlook could not connect to the outgoing mailserver (SMTP). The problem could be your SSL or port settings for the outgoing server. Verify your SSL and port settings under More settings on the Advanced tab

Checked that those and the settings are both on default.

Any more options?

Are you using port 587? Did you set the sending username and password?

Username and password settings were ok but the port setting apparently not. With 587 it works like a charme.
Thanks a lot.
