Is there a limit to the size of a file that can be downloaded over http?

I put a 2.15GB file on one of my domains and the server won't allow it to be downloaded over http. It throws out a 403 error, even though the url is correct.

Not that I know of. Have you tried a download manager such as getright?

What's the extension of the file your trying to download?

I was just using a browser. Tried a DL manager called Net Transport and the server gave it a 403 error too.

The file is a .rar archive.

EDIT:
I rarred a small text file and uploaded that and it downloads fine from the same directory.

Mike,

telecart's response was aimed at a server administrator who has root rights to the server.

If you're just a site owner you won't be able to do that, but can ask your hosting company to help you.
