Can anyone help? I am a novice at web sites. I cannot log into my site from my PC and neither can a couple of friends on their PC's. However, I can from the library and other friends can too. Why is this? Is it my internet settings? but then why can some get into it and not others? I am confused. Website is www.alexandramassey.com if this helps with the answer. Many thanks.

1) This question does NOT belong under Pricing, Billing & Licensing. So I hope someone either moves it or deletes it.

2) I presume you don't own DirectAdmin, but rather are a hosting customer.

Only your hosting company can tell if your site is properly set up on their server. Have they been able to help you?

3) I can see your site properly from here. What do you mean by "log in to your site"?

thank you for your reply.

Where does this question belong then?

When I type my own website address into the address bar in Internet Explorer, it won't connect to the site. It says that this page cannot be displayed.

It belongs with your hosting company, as only they know how they set up your site and your DNS.

If you insist on posting it here, it should be posted under User Level Difficulties.

However I don't see how we can help you.

I've already told you that we can see your site, so the problem is probably with how DNS is propagating with your ISP or in your own network.

Additionally you cannot use IE to troubleshoot, because IE sends what it calls "user friendly error messages"; they don't tell us what's really going on.

(And if you're in the U.S., using IE can result in you being arrested as an enemy noncombatant, since you're using IE after they've warned Americans to not use it because it's a security risk.)

OK. I thought this was my web hoster as the person who did my website gave me this link and told me that this was the hoster's forum.

Secondly, I did move my question to what I thought was the right place.

Thirdly, I am in the UK. Everyone uses IE here.

I have no idea what is going on but I will ask the question elsewhere. Thanks

DirectAdmin is the software used by the server that may host your site. The DA folk do not run the server hosting your site.

I can see where it might have seemed to be right place since you were under the misimpression that DA hosted your site. A site-owner is a user to DA, which is why I recommended User Level Difficulties

Perhaps you missed the emoticon I used to indicate I was being tongue-in-cheek. However that doesn't change the fact that IE's error message gives no useful information to use in debugging a problem. Other browsers do.

Perhaps you've missed that I've answered your question; I wrote I've already told you that we can see your site, so the problem is probably with how DNS is propagating with your ISP or in your own network. Since we're not getting an error I don't see how we could be expected to know what the error is. I've given you my best guess.
