Hello,

I wanted to change my servers main IP to another one.
I tried to edit the file
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0-range0
and restarted network .

The box was unreachible for a while, until my DC restored it
back to the original configuration. The support technician was rude enough
to say "You cannot change server IP whatsoever"
And I did not want to say another word after that.

I am really stuck on this. How do I do that thing ?

Thanks in advance for Your replies.

Its in the knowledgebase. Of course you can only change it to an ip that your DC gives you.

Simply stating "You cannot change server IP whatsoever" is not rude however. It may be just a fact.

Note also that when you change your main IP# you must get it changed in your DirectAdmin license or DirectAdmin will stop working.

Thanks for the replies.
The help section provides information about what to do about licence, after the IP change. I just wanted to know if the above method is right or not.

And of course the new IP was provided by the DC.
