Hi,

I only have 1 email address to work with. Is it possible to change the name of it? My domain name is longer than 8 characters and I want to cut it down to something that reads nicely.

Hello,

Where do you want to change that email address? If you want to change domain name in directadmin, then yes, it is possible.
If you want to change [email protected] to [email protected], then as far as I can see, you can not do that in Directadmin interface (if to say about emails hosted on your domains), but I'd rather say it can be done in root shell.

Based on your post my guess is that you're a client hosting a single domain with a hosting company. Is that correct?

If you only have one email address to work with, then is it the same as your ftp and DirectAdmin login name? If so, then the left side of your email address can only be changed by changing your account username, and that needs to be done by your hosting provider. You can change the right side of your email address by changing your domain name in Domain Setup or by creating an alias, if your hosting company allows it, but if you do your new domain name must be a registered domain name which you own, and you must point it to your server first or it won't work.

Unless you manage your own server you should probably check with your hosting company.

Jeff
