I will probably need to change server hostname since now it's vps.somedomain.com and I need it to show up ( for those running whois queries etc ) as somehost.anotherdomain.com

I am not a linux expert and I supposed it was kind of a complex operation. I have a fully managed service so this wouldn't be a big problem, by the way I've seen that in the control panel we have the possibility to change hostname ( and dns server names ).

My question is: is it really that easy? do I need to have something reconfigured? have you ever done it? which problems did arise? what should I consider before doing it?

Try it; I believe you'll find it works.

Just make sure that DNS is active for the hostname. If the nostname's parent domain has DNS served on the same server, it will just work; otherwise you'll have to add it to your DNS configuration.
