As the title says. I have been considering Cloudlinux but wanted to know from some of you if its really worth it. I don't know much about it so I would like to know from admins what you have found useful?

After about 2 years CL i switched to Propack, because it almost replaces it and brings more functionality. Both is senseless. CL alone yes, if you dont want to use Propack.

It depends on your environment.

If we're talking an environment where you're hosting websites other than your own, CloudLinux really comes into its own with its security features (especially when CageFS is installed) - and the density improvements it can offer with per-account resource throttling.

Features I particularly like are some of the extra bells and whistles that can be optionally enabled with it, like NodeJS support, Ruby support, etc.

The PHP selector that can be installed (optional) is also really neat - namely the ability load/unload PHP modules per account on-demand.

we have old licenses without pro-pack, that's why using cloudinux.
it has own adwantages but if you don't need some special exclusive thing from it - maybe ProPack will be enough for you, as it already included in DA license.

CL is great because of the patched PHP versions & CageFS, the support is lousy, you always have to ask.

Sorry to dig this up.
Is cloudlinux worth it? Currently hosting around 40 local client accounts.

It depends what your needs are, the amount of clients you mention is not such a big issue (if you host them in a proper system) if they need something like quite old PHP versions then CL might be your way to go.

Is cloudlinux worth it?
Depends on what you want. If you want to give your users PHP versions 4.x up to 8.x, And simple nodejs/python app management for users. And setup packages with limits via LVE etc. then yes.
I like the CageFS feature and LVE setup. Also it is lightweight OS so fast enough. But sometimes you need to wait for software/packages updates untill they add it to their repository. Sometime software is already stable but they are always making "their own" roll out for it. Which is understandable but can be annoying sometimes.

I like it and it is for customers really chill for extra services which are easy to set up.

Thank you, our clients don’t really log in. We have a few sites on PHP 5.6, some on 7.4 and the rest on 8.1. I have looked and we could use im360 to just give hardened PHP. They are all Wordpress.

But a part of me feels the CL setup may be easier to bring in the new PHP versions like 8.3 etc…. I also worry DA will take away 5.6 and 7.4 soon.

newer php versions are always a bit later at CloudLinux. Same as mariadb or nodejs as they always need to check if it works well because they want to release stable stuff. Also if you run dbgoverner it all needs to work together.
But i often check changelog to do beta releases.
But for example NodeJS 21 is already out for a while and cloudlinux has not released NodeJS21 yet. Also a lot of things for CloudLinux and Imunify360 are always first available for Cpanel and always later for DA or Plesk

But if your users do not login you can also use DA with IM360. And install nodejs and python apps for your users with the nginx unit (if you have pro pack) For hardened php you can for sure run IM360 indeed. Also you can still use php versions if you install it manual right? I think you can still install older versions but not via CB. I almost never install stuff via CB.

I like the fact that with cagefs and the php selector you have so much more options for your user and also it has an easier setup. A lot of php extensions which you can just turn on or off. Edit the disabled_functions, simple change memory/post size etc. It is all much easier and relaxter. Also upgrading Database is much easier.

But it comes with a price off course you will need OS shared or OS Shared Pro because you have 40 accounts. For Imunify360 you will need the version which is for up to 250 users as the one below is up to 30 users. And for DA you will also need the Standard license so you would pay more per month. But as we say in the Netherlands "gemak dient de mens" roughly translated to "convenience serves the people" Making your live/job easier can be very nice for a price.

Anyway just some thoughts :D
