ok i have one client complaining about not getting emails from this one host. He gave his webmail login on their mail server and i was able to send to my email account on my server. i tried his and a few other accounts on my server they were not coming in, i was watching exim's mainlog the whole time and they never even reached the server.

i'm trying to figure out if this is some kind of configuration error on my part, he also did note that there was another company that emails were not coming in.

he also said his media temple account was getting them fine.

i verified and i was able to recieve mail to gmail and yahoo got it just fine...what is going on? a bunch of accounts besides my main domain they just don't make it.

they also said they were unable to see his website. I turned my firewall off and still nothing (either way i was getting them to my system account when the firewall was on)

any help, suggestions or ideas would be greatly helpful i'm pulling my hair out

Often it takes me days to read PMs; it's always a better idea to email me. That's why I've got an email address in my sig.

There are some DNS errors with the domain; enter the domain name (without any hostname) at http://www.dnsreport.com/ and you'll see what I mean.

My guess is that some servers are looking for information they can't find because of the DNS problem. While I might be wrong, until these problems are fixed you can't prove anything.

As far as wanting to hide DNS information when asking for help, you might want to read this:

i was playing with those reports earlier, there were no errors on mine (two warns) but are you talking about the test account i am sending from? (the mail1....)

as well, his account sends fine to gmail, yahoo and others and even if it was looking for something shouldn't it show up in the logs?

regarding hiding domains/ips from your link i don't believe any of that unfourtunatly. less is always better in my opinion.

as well if it is DNS config problem why would my accout on the same machine/ip recieve the email why many other domains on my server will not take it?

what domain name is this sending from and what domain is it sending to?

I have encountered this sort of problem before, and usually it had to do with DNS records. Other things it had to do with are spam filters at the origionating point for the e-mail. ( ie from where the mail is sent from ).

Obviously sometimes you do see error's with the transmission of e-mail, more times than ever it appears that the problems are more isolated and take some serious looking into.

Also try looking on the OPEN RELAY database for both servers, as well as their IP addresses... it could possibly be that the IP / domain name is blacklisted somewhere and that you are just starting to experience this problem.

Let's go there for starters...

this has been solved it appears i didn't have my A names setup properly for my name servers. but it did kinda start working before this, but we shall see if it continues on.
