Hello team,

I have an issue with a client of mine. When he gets a new webdesign customer, he need to have his site stuff on our DA server but he like to keep the emails going to the current server.

So he just changes the www A record at the regitry to point to our DA server, so only the site works with his DA account.

But if any emails are sent from his site, or from webmail (cuase his clients do a /webmail) which also points to DA, then emails are staying in the DA server, and not getting to the real email server (elsewhere)

So what I do is rename the virtual directory in /etc/virtual to something like xxxx-renamed.com so the virtual directroy does not exist.

Is there a better way to completely disable email funciontionality on his DA so that any email actvitiy looks for the server outside of the DA machine ?

Thanks :)

Yes. As admin turn on DNS for the client, then do a client login and change the MX settings.

The MX page is fairly self explanatory.

After you're done you may again disable DNS for the client.

Jeff, if you ever come to Spain, I'll hook you up with some good wine and Jamón (google it), hhehe

Ok, so do I do this in conjunction to the renaming of the etc/virtual directory ? Or is your solution the only thing I need to do ?

Thanks a million,

In such case, I set DNS MX records to proper server for the domain and erase domain name from the list of domains in /etc/virtual/domains and it does the trick.

Sure, Sc0uT, that's about what the control panel does as I suggested.

And then you can be sure you didn't make any mistake.

toniramos,

You're very welcome.

Well, it's either a java template or a really good ham :).

Can I tell you a little secret? I knew what it is. When i was a kid my cousin was married to a Cuban bandleader (originally from Spain) named Xavier Cugat. While the women (including Abbe) were all in the kitchen preparing our Passover dinner he taught us about the non-kosher foods we little Jewish boys weren't allowed to eat ;). If only our parents knew :D.

Look at the picture in the Wikipedia article here; that's Cugat on the left and my cousin on the right.

Wow, heheheheheh,. That's pretty interesting ! So you were eating jamón thinking it wasn't a meat product ! Hehehe,..

Ok, so I think the one thing I did not do was set the MX records.

Right on guys, thanks for helping out as usual !

Cheeers !
