DA Server no longer emailing copies of messages

I've setup a new DA VM by copying an existing VM, modifying the hostname, IP, etc, adding a new admin and removing the old admin. However, now I'm not getting any copies of system messages being emailed to me. They're not in the exim log at all. I've double checked that the "E-mail a copy of all messages" option is ticked. If I create a ticket from a user, I get that email notification fine. But nothing coming in to "Messages" is being emailed to me. Would love some ideas of where to troubleshoot.

1.) I would start checking or tailing the DA logfiles in that case.
2.) Also check wheater normal e-mail gets out, for example use Roundcube and visit https://www.mail-tester.com and follow instructions.
See what score you get and maybe what is still in minus.
3.) Changed hostname and ip's. Did you think of also changing the rDNS/PTR records to the new hostname?

Thanks for the reply!

1) Tailing DA logs doesn't leave with me anything.
2) Normal email gets out well, and scores 10/10 in the likes of mail-tester.com.
3) PTR records are set up perfectly, no issues there.

Ohh! You got me on the right track. Starting looking into ALL logs (even those that weren't relevant to emails). I ran a backup to simulate receiving a message and kept digging. The /var/log/messages log I found this:
Code:
May 14 21:54:53 s4v1 dataskq[2294162]: task failed error=mail sender: open data/users/oldusername/user.conf: no such file or directory task=action=backup&append_to_path=nothing&database_data_aware=yes&email_data_aware=yes&local_path=%2Fhome%2Fbackups%2Fmanual_backups&owner=newusername&select0=user&trash_aware=yes&type=admin&value=multiple&when=now&where=local
Turns out my admin user's .conf had the old account as the creator. And because I deleted the old account, that was causing it to fail. Simply changing the creator back to "root" solved the issue.

Thanks Richard!

Edit to add: I mean, this seems like a bug though. If the user's creator was deleted, that shouldn't stop backup notifications and the like to stop going out, right?

You're welcome.
There is always one logfile which shows something, even if it's a little bit. ;)

I'm not sure if it's a bug. Normally you can't just delete a users creator without also deleting all his users as far as I remember.
However, since this is admin without users, it might be a bug.
I'm either not sure if this would have been fixed if the admin email was changed or saved again after deleting the original admin.

In any case it's a good one to remember.
