Hi everyone!

We are happy to announce the release of DirectAdmin 1.659.

The highlight of this release is new database management interface and smaller improvements.

Full release change log can be found here:

DirectAdmin 1.659

The update should be automatically available for all installations subscribed to the current release channel.

We appreciate all the feedback on forums and issues reported in the ticketing system.

Thanks!

Hi @fln

I'm a bit dissapointed with the new release. We are still having issues when removing old libraries, mostly with libiconv. When rebuilding the packages, multiple restarts of Apache and php-fpm are triggered. Until they have been rebuild, the restart will fail, causing unnecessary and unwanted downtime.

I was hoping that the da build php <version> command would prevent these restarts, but it is still restarting both Apache and all available php-fpm pools:

Bash:
2024:02:02-10:25:02: httpd reloaded
2024:02:02-10:25:02: php-fpm81 restarted
2024:02:02-10:25:02: php-fpm82 restarted
2024:02:02-10:25:02: php-fpm83 restarted

Any news when a fix for this issue will be applied? Perhaps an additional command can be added, just for removing all old libraries, that requires a manual restart of all services.

@SanderJ, yes. Excessive restarts is a know problem that will be addressed.

In this release the reason for extending da build php to work with a single version was to eliminate (or deprecate) the da build php_expert command and allow easy single version rebuild without having to know the correct PHP mode. The internals of what is being done as PHP reinstall was not changed much. But as I said the issue is known and will be resolved :).

The list of Time Zones is retrieved from the system:

Files /usr/share/zoneinfo/zone1970.tab or /usr/share/zoneinfo/zone.tab are read to get the list.

After creating a database you get the notification "Database name is required"

Hi,
Why on /evo/user/database there's no longer option "Sign in phpmyadmin" ? and why it's again counting size of my databases if I turned it off months ago?

EDIT: Oh, I can see there's "phpmyadmin" when I go to some DATABASE but it's signin me only just to that one database lol if I have 5000 databases it's not comfortable for me... can you return that option to all databases at once?
:D

Link to PhpMyAdmin is available once you select a DB to manage. Not quite sure what you had in mind with turning off DB size counting. Showing the size of the database is not tied to any configuration options.

Lol.
1. https://docs.directadmin.com/direct...ll-directadmin-conf-values.html#show-db-usage
2. Before DA <1.659 I could signin to ALL DATABASES in phpmyadmin AT ONCE (at page with view to all databases), not clicking every database separately, it's waste of time!

Thanks for clarification.

Database size is now retrieved much more efficiently than before, so there is no real performance benefit in not counting it. Option show-db-usage will be eligible for removal in future releases.

Global PhpMyAdmin access is available from the main menu (Extra Features section). It will give you access to all databases. So we decided there is need to duplicate it inside the DB list page.

thanks for the explanation, it all makes sense now :P I didn't notice that phpmyadmin works that way there :)

Because there is no Europe/Amsterdam timezone
I had this too some time ago. Thought it was DA too. But I had the correct timezone set in the distro and it was present there.
For some reason it was not taken over correctly by Directadmin. But at a certain point, after rebooting server or restarting DA, not sure anymore, suddenly it was present in DA again.
So chance is big it will fix itself. But since timezone are present in the distro, imho it's not synched correctly with DA always for some reason.

Starting with this release the line height / space between lines is increased by a lot (in Safari at least);

I think I like how it previously was better. Or change the default height of the textbox by 3-4x. I see less by default now, and need to scroll more.

Love the new Database Management-page.

But it doesn't really style to the Hybrid-theme, it's more like a part of the Refreshed theme is being loaded in the hybrid theme. Form elements, fonts etc. are you guys gonna fix that?

Schermafbeelding 2024-02-03 om 08.19.38.pngAlso the Dutch translation has always been very inconsistent but 'Databasen' really? Should be 'Databases'. We would be willing to assist so that the translation overall improves.

@xyntanl thanks for feedback. Right now databases page looks slightly different compared to the rest of the pages. We are building a new set of user interface components that we expect to use in other pages as well. The page looks different from the rest of the pages no matter which layout is used. I mean it is not designed as part of Refreshed theme and stands out from Refreshed a bit as well. But this is the style we expect to start using in all the pages.

Help with translations would be appreciated. The new pages were introduced not that long before the release so there were not much time to polish the translations. With an account in our translations management site https://translate.directadmin.com/projects/directadmin/evolution-skin you can submit translation changes. It is easy to see changes in the alpha release channel which gets released daily. Thanks to active community member @Active8 any changes in UI are very quickly translated to Dutch and Dutch language almost always have 100% translation coverage. Translations management system is designed to help with collaborative work.

@fin Thanks for your reply. The style just seems a little bit off but I'll wait to see how this develops further.

I've signed up on the translation page and will go through the variables and suggest improvements where possible. I have no problem contributing to improve the overall product.

When i login as Admin, select user1 and login as him.
Then go for example to "Email accounts" and i want to switch to user2.
I switch back to the main vieuw of user1 and have to select user2 again

I noticed an issue with the new Database screen. Typically, when we import a backup file from cPanel, some users enter server names in the "Allowed Hosts" section. In the new version, if there's any registered server name, it's no longer possible to delete it, and it shows the following error message:

Invalid Request - Invalid IP address

hosts.png

How should we proceed with removing these invalid host names?

Thanks for the feedback @paulonichio. We are trying to discourage host-name use in user host patterns. An update will be made to make host pattern management more flexible and backwards compatible when removing old host patterns.

Cannot change daily send limit per user, even I have activated it from admin. Have to edit manually in SSH. Is that a bug, or am I missing something?
