That's why it's better to use custom Backup Scripts and dont mess up with this.
Just what is why it's better to use custom Backup scripts? DirectAdmin staff has posted that yes, the binaries are stable.

Jeff

The fact that this is still not fixed is one of the most annoying issues I've ever had with DA. For MONTHS now I've been waiting for the fix and still there is nothing.

Release the freaking update already.

Man, an angry PM within minutes of my post? I must be doing something right...

And for the record, of course I realize that this is because mysql inserts the "announcement" into line 1 of all the .sql files. And yes, I do realize you can manually go in and remove the line, re-tar the file, and restore... But I manage literally hundreds of DA servers and I have a lot of clients who are trying to move to a vps/dedicated server from a reseller account somewhere else, so I don't have the luxury of having root on the server that creates the backups. Some of my clients have thousands of databases to move, so unless I want to hire a small team of Indians to go in and edit the files for me, I'm stuck until DA does something about this.

Or you can take a few minutes out your day and write a script to do it. That is what I did.

Feel like actually sharing to the community than saying its non-issue then providing nothing? He'd still have to untar hundreds of users, run a script, retar, etc. And not everyone is a scripter/coder, some may be damn good sysadmins but doesn't mean they code. And as a matter of principle this should have been fixed by DA by now, even if just a small patch to remove that damn line before backup. (though MySQL themselves are retarded for this form of announcement).

If you cant write a simple shell script then you have no business running a server.

Any particular reason you would come into this thread and say "just write a script, I did" and not post the script for other people to use?

Not. That's the whole point of a script. You run it, go have a beer, come back and its done.

The script would do these very basic things:

1. Untar the user backup.
2. Find the sql files.
3. Delete the line in the sql files.
4. Tar it up again.

If you as an admin know how to do these thing then you know how to insert the commands into a script.

Again, why are you wasting your time posting in here and not just posting the script you say you have? This is currently the most viewed thread the the technical support forum, so there's obviously hundreds of people who could benefit by it.

If you have a script that would effectively fix the issue, then post it. Especially if it only "took you a few minutes" to write.

Server admins know how to write the script. They at most need the logic of what to do which I have provided. Many times I do not agree with scsi I this time I think he said it best.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Don't teach a man to fish, and you feed yourself. He's a grown man. Fishing's not that hard.

Scripting is not that hard either.

Many of us here are available for hire if you don't want to use the pre release binaries or wait for the official release.

So you're either a liar or a douche? Got it.

In other news, this has got to be one of the worst "technical support" forums I've ever been on, not to mention on of the biggest circlejerks. I'm willing to bet my left nut that I have more DirectAdmin licenses than anyone in this thread and I'm seriously starting to consider other options.

Anyway, if anyone needs help with this error, PM me, because I'm done with this thread.

ps - Your site is awesome. Way to bring back tables... I mean, CSS is overrated, amirite?

Sounds like the key reason doesn't divulge anything, you're either paying DA and waiting for a fix on something that should have been fixed a long time ago (since everyone says its such a 'simple' fix) but at the same time the forum members are like scammers , benefiting from DA's slowness and lack of support by prying on those needing help for some issue, being like 'pay me and I'll help you', not very community like.

Simply put, I think DA has gone the way of cpanel/whm, they just don't care anymore.

Least you can actually restore a cpanel backup without having to beg the admin at the old server to downgrade all their users just so you can have a working backup that can be restored.

It is fixed. It is fixed. It is fixed. How many times do we have to say it.

Not relevant to this forum. We do not care how many licenses you have. It just does not matter. This a community of volunteers. If you need direct help from DirectAdmin and you have as many licenses as you say you have then you should be contacting DirectAdmin Support directly instead of posting in the 99% community supported forum.

I have been on vacation this holiday weekend and just have not had time to look up what I did. So I provided a brief outline from memory of what I did to help out real admins. I would have posted it when I got back to work but for now anybody who wants it PM me and I will give it to you. (except for subigo and kbeezie).

You are new here so I will give you the benefit of the doubt. You will find that I along with many, many other members here offer solutions for free on a regular basis. Never did I suggest that I be hired for this job. Maybe I should not have said "many of us" and just said "many." I don't want the job. I do not take on jobs this silly. It would be silly to pay somebody for a job that DirectAdmin has already fixed.

So what is release schedule for next version of DA? I'm not very comfortable with not "stable" version and I have my license from my DC, therefore no access to client area.

So why wont they release it? Anyway I'd have to ask my DC to provide it to me.
