Hello there,

recently I tried to add my DirectAdmin mail to my thunderbird-client. The setup had been easy (thunderbird found the required data automatically and I rechecked the passwordsettings with an earlier entry in this forum: STARTTLS / Normal password). Now here comes my problem: when I want to connect with may account with thunderbird I get this message: "Login to server mail.domain.nl failed." After googeling, etc. I don't seem to be able to fix this issue.. I'd be thankful for some help .

Greetings,
Maren

Hello,

If you've got access to your server logs, try to read /var/log/maillog.

If you buy hosting with Directadmin, you should ask your hosting provider.

Thank you for your reply! Well, I'm not sure if I looked for the right thing (or if I didn't understand your advice correctly:o) but with filezilla I searched for /var/logs/maillog - couldn't find it though... Any suggestions?

Do you have root access to your server? Or admin level access to your Directadmin?

OK, let's try another thing... if you try and go through authorization with your credentials into a webmail, will you succeed?

Note, you should use [email protected] as a login for connecting to IMAP/POP/SMTP server for your email box [email protected] and a valid password for it.

Alex, you're great! I got it working by a re-setup and checking the username again. Thunderbird generated the profile automatically but didn't attach the '@domain.com'. Very happy here now that it works - thanks ;)!
