under reseller panel ip management, reseller able to check how many account a server host.

suggest to cancel it.

I posted about this a very long time ago. DA doesnt seem to think that this is a needed feature. I think otherwise and im glad others do as well. Howabout it DA? Im tried of trying to hide the number of domains on my server at the reseller level. Do something about this ridiculous oversite and bad design. You dont see this on Cpanel or Plesk or any other control panel for that matter, only DA and its annoying as hell.

Unless I'm missing something, on my box my reseller accounts only see the number of users that the reseller owns. Those accounts do not see a count of all users on the system.

Users seachen and pucky are correct, though perhaps oversimplifying the issue. What you see is the total number of users on any shared IP# used by the reseller.

John, can this be changed in DirectAdmin to keep some level of privacy for those clients who host 22,000 domains ;) on each server?

Jeff

Thanks, John.

I suppose I should add that I was intentionally exagerating. While DirectAdmin might be able to host 22,000 domains per server with judicious modifications to the kernel, lots of memory, lots of cores, apache 2 and some changes to how apache handles error logs, I don't recommend it and I don't support it (and I don't think John and Mark do, either).

You mean I can't replace all of our severs with just one? :-) Seriously though we've gone and made super sized VPS nodes, with then small VPSes for shared/reseller hosting. Making the VPSes much smaller (say limiting to 100 accounts) is much easier to manage. Blacklisted IPs, CPU load, hacked accounts, etc..

This is a good new feature to have.

One of our consulting clients/technology partners (they don't use DirectAdmin) is moving from a cage to a cabinet, using large servers over time. He started with old TRS-80s ;) and now uses Cobalt RaQ2s.

Only kidding of course; he started with Cobalt RaQ3s and is now updating to much larger servers running Blue Quartz.

I don't recommend or support Blue Quartz, and I highly recommend DirectAdmin :); but the same concepts apply.

Which VPS do you use? We're going to start experimenting later this year.

Picked Xen over virtuozzo/openvz and vmware because:
- found it to have best isolation with a balance of performance
- can't oversell memory (some a marketing decision)
- vmware is very $$$
- can run different OSes and different kernels
- can run as PV (Para-Virtualization) or full virtualization if your CPU supports it. Full virtualization performance stinks with opensource version.

the cons of Xen:
- not as widespread in the hosting biz (virtuozzo/openvz)
- management is not as advanced as VMware

Finally, needed this "feature" some time ago.. i'm now giving resellers their own IP address to hide the amount of users (just because they don't have to know).

Yes, still visible from Admin Level -> IP Manager.

John

Actually, i logged in as the reseller and the number of users is still visible under NAMESERVES. So resellers can still view the number of users on the server under this option.

Can we have a quick fix for this?

Do you have hide_ip_user_numbers=1 set in your directadmin.conf file? Did you restart DirectAdmin after it?

I added hide_ip_user_numbers=1 to my directadmin.conf file and restarted the directadmin service but when I log in as a reseller the numer of users is still visible under Ip manager.
(And also under nameservers)

Are you sure you are using a native (default enhanced) skin? The 3rd party's skins might or not support this feature.
