Hi,
Once i have allotted disk quota to any user, is it possible that he can use more than allotted space.
The same has happened to one of my account. He is using 500Mb more than the allotted space. How to prevent such things ?

I set up a test last night, and no, going over disk quota doesn't suspend the account. I'll bring ths thread to DA staff attention.

Hello,

Currently, only bandwidth will suspend an account/domain.
If we were to suspend an account based on disk usage, then the user wouldn't be able to login to remove files to resolve the problem.

If the system quotas are setup correctly, they should enforce files owned by the user. It would prevent them from adding any more. Even if you have /var on a sperate partition, emails would also be goverened under this limit (for multiple partion quota management: http://www.directadmin.com/features.php?id=611

If there is enough demand for it, I would be able to add an option for DA to suspend based on disk usage globally in the directadmin.com... it would be off by default, of course ;)

How is the disk space counted? I'm having issues with DA thinking the user is hardly using anything when theres loads of data in a users directory.

Example DA says that one of my customers disk space is "0.2957 / 100". If I `du -csh *` in their home directory I get 234M.

This has only really become a problem since moving this customer from a previous DA server which didnt have QUOTAs enabled in the Kernel to a server that does. So hey werent getting any emails because they were over quota. The server the customer is now on is FreeBSD 6.1. Even on the previous server DA seems to mis-quote the customers disk space usage.

BTW I am also using Maildir and dovecot for email on both servers, so the customers emails are stored in their home directory.

Count me in. Though warning the user like cPanel does of near reaching the limit would be ideal as well. Give them the chance to clean up their old files.

Option to suspend was added a few versions ago:

There should already be a warning message sent to the user when he hits 100% usage (if a bandwidth warning wasn't sent first). Only 1 warning per month for both bandwidth and quotas combined. Obviously, 100% would be too late if the suspension option is turned on.. I could lower it to 95% for the warning.
