DNS across reseller and vps

Hello,

I'm new to the DA community so firstly hello everyone =)

I hope some of you can help me out with this question. I have an existing DA reseller account and I just recently got a vps with DA installed. I haven't set up my host name yet because I need some help working it out.

I want to keep the ns1 & ns2 that are currently pointing to the reseller and I want to point the MX and create a ns3 and ns4 on the DA vps. Can I have some help with this? I'm a newb to using DA in admin mode.

Thanks in advance,

Lime

if you're just a reseller, I guess you will need to edit MX record manually. For the ns3, ns4, you just create them in domain control panel, point to VPS's IPs. Remember to add their value to the account hosts for your domain too

configuring 2 nameservers on different servers

Hi all,

my question is not quite the same as the one at the top of this thread, but the I didn't want to start a new thread with the same name.

I have two DA servers that I want to cooperate in the DNS-field. I activated multi-server setup. There is a ns1. and ns2.ABC.com and ns1. and ns2.XYZ.com.

My question is as follows:

What is a smart set-up and what needs to be configured for that?

1) One idea is to have ns1.ABC.com (primary) to work with ns2.XYZ.com (secondary) on server ABC and to use ns1.XYZ.com (primary) with ns2.ABC.com (secondary) on the other server.
Is this do-able and is this desirable?

2) Another option is to use ns1 of both servers. ns1.ABC.com would be primary on server ABC.com, with ns1.XYZ.com secondary on this server. The reverse would be true for server XYZ.com.

Should I do any of the following:

- in the Administrator settings change the second nameserver entry to the other server (so one nameserver is ABC.com and one is XYZ.com on each server)?

- add ns1.XYZ.com as an NS record for each domain I make on server ABC.com? (modify the template?)

- if I opt for a set-up of using ns1 on both servers, does that mean that I don't need / can't use ns2 on those servers?

A few questions here! I couldn't find answers (at least not that I recognised as answers) in the threads here. Perhaps you have some advise?

Thank you,

Harro
