DNS problem

Look at your post to me; you told me how you log in to make the change.

I have no idea how to make changes on enom. I don't even know if enom is your registrar. I'm merely going by what you wrote me.

Jeff

But I have go to https://access.enom.com/,

then I use my a/cc to login...

It can just edit the nameserver, but not IPs....

You're looking at the page where you modify the nameservers your domain name uses.

That's not the same as registering a nameserver.

You'll have to ask Enom support department how to do that; as I wrote previously it differs from registrar to registrar.

Jeff

I did a whois check on his domain well the first one he provided and this came back.

Registrant:
CHAN TSZ CHUN [email protected]

Domain Name: CCK.HK

Record created on 2005-05-30
Record expired on 2006-06-07

Technical Contact:
CHAN TSZ CHUN [email protected]
Personal

Domain servers in listed order:
ns1.cck.hk
ns2.cck.hk

don't know if this is any help. the second domain he mentioned doesn't resolve.

P.S. i changed his e-maill addy....

I have ask them already... They reply the follows:

We only support nameserver information. Every IP should have a nameserver associated with it. If you know how to set MX records already, then you will be able to set your IP address, but this is only if you know how.

Simply log in to your domain and make sure the nameservers are set to "our nameservers". On the log in page, there will be fields that you can set your records on.

So what can I do now ?

I think we need to start at the beginning.

Your nameservers don't resolve because they're not registered in the root servers for .com domains,

The root servers for .com domains are the gtld-servers.

Here's proof the nameservers aren't registered; this is the output from the dig command as run on my local desktop system:

Code:
[jlasman@of1 ~]$ dig @a.gtld-servers.net ns1.cckpro.com

; <<>> DiG 9.3.1 <<>> @a.gtld-servers.net ns1.cckpro.com

Notice from the above that there's a QUESTION section and an AUTHORITY section, but no ANSWER section.

You wrote that you contacted Enom and that Enom wrote you back as follows:

Which leads me to wonder what it is you asked them.

Do you own the cckpro.com domain? If so, then you need to get those nameservers registered.

Here's the proof they're not registered; simply look at the whois record for cckpro.com (also run on my desktop system):
Code:
[jlasman@of1 ~]$ whois cckpro.com

Reading the above, it appears that if you do NOT own cckpro.com, then you need to show this entire thread to whoever does and that if you do own cckpro.com, then you need to turn to your Registration Service Provider, who appears to be:

http://www.powerpipe.com

Their contact information is: [email protected].

If they don't know how to register nameservers for you then you should either use whatever nameservers they already have setup for you to use, or you should switch the registration to a provider who does. Unfortunately you cannot switch a provider during the first two months of the registration; you won't be able to switch to a knowledgeable registration provider (we are a knowledgeable registration provider but we're much more expensive than $7.99) during the first 60 days you've owned your domain.

I don't see any other way to help you use those nameservers; you can't use nameservers that aren't registered.

The only think I can't understand is why you got an answer about MX records? I didn't write anything about asking about MX records, so this just confused me.

Jeff

I ask them again with giving this post to them, they reply as follows---

Thank you for your email.

PowerPipe.com is a reseller for ICANN-accredited eNom.com. PowerPipe.com does not have an interface for you to create nameserver but eNom.com does.

For the convenience of our customers who need nameservers, we create for you a complete reseller account at eNom.com, an ICANN-accredited registrar.

This account offers unlimited nameserver registration, a master account to manage all your domains, compete DNS management and control panel, an API to automate any of your registration needs, Private Whois and many other features.

eNom usually charges $495 up front for the same account. We set it up for you for $21, an "at cost" price for us. Once you have the account, you have all the tools you need to register and manage thousands of domains. eNom usually charges $29.95 per domain, but we set the account up for you at eNom's best priciing: $8.95.

Please see the "manage domains" link at www.powerpipe.com, Option # 10 to get your WebPro account.

Well, it's not eNom's best price, but it's good enough for most people.

It's also a good reason to be careful who you buy domain registration from.

We've been selling domain registrations for many years, and we've always given all our domain clients a complete management interface.

When we get to the point where we can offer a good price, we'll announce our services :) .

In the meantime, if you're never going to need more than one domain, and don't want to go into the domain reselling business (and figure it all out yourself) just find a reseller who does allow you to do it, and transfer the domain to them.

Of course you can't transfer a domain until after it's been in existence at least 60 days.

If you contact eNom yourself, they may be willing to help you rather than lose your business.

What is your price for selling domain ? I'm in HK, how can I pay ?

Note that you can't transfer a new domain until after you've had it for 60 days or more.

The price we charge depends on how you pay us; if we handle things manually it costs more than if you use our automated site.

Please write me privately (at the email address below in my sig) for information about domain name sales.

And note that there are lots of registrars less expensive than we are. We hope to have a low priced system soon but we don't have it yet. RIght now we pay more than the $8.95 you pay. We're a Dotster reseller but to resellers and folk on the DA forum we sell for the same price Dotster charges their resellers. (Do not just use our site; we have to set a flag for anyone to get the special price.)
