i am using the nameservers my server host provides.

they have a control panel for setting dns records and of course there is also a place to change dns settings in directadmin.

do I need to set the DNS info in my hosting providers control panel even though directadmin sets it up by default?

if I do need both sets of records can someone explain why? I hate not knowing about things!

thank you!

That all depends on how the sites are set up at the domain registrar. If you set up the sites (or tell your users to set up their sites) to point to your DA server, then you need to set up DNS there. If all sites point to your hosting company's server, then you need to set up DNS there.

Generally the default DNS set up by DA when you set up a domain will suffice.

You should discuss this with your provider as they may have a reason they have their own control panel.
