Not sure what you're asking about, you are free to name your name servers as you wish: whatever.domain.com and else-whatever.domain.com

I think you want to change the default nameservers.
Go to reseller-level and create virtual nameservers.
After that you can change the nameservers to the nameservers you just created.
You must give the domain of the nameservers glue records.

I'm moving all my websites from hostgator to a vps. My host said I should name my nameservers with my main website. ns1.mywhatever.com and ns2.mywhatever.com.
I was wondering if I need that website moved first before I move the rest or does it matter. I don't really like naming the ns1 and ns2 after a website, because what if I drop the website?
I went into DirectAdmin control panel and when I clicked on Administrator Settings,
below was listed. Is this something totally different from my domain hosting ns1 and ns2?

You can keep this nameservers, but you need to change the nameservers OF your domain.
So go to the control panel of your domains (not in DirectAdmin, but at your domain hoster) and set the new nameservers from 168vps.com.

Do you own the domain name 168vps.com? If you do, then you can use them as your nameservers, but you'll need to setup a zone file for the domain wherever you want, and then at the registrar set up a zone file for the domain. Then you'll need to set up the A records for the nameserver both in the zone file and at your registrar. Currently 168vps.com is registered at Xin Net Technology Corporation and the listed nameservers are ns1.oray.net, and ns2.oray.net, but that nameserver doesn't have an a record for the domain (it does have an SOA record).
