I have tried calling DirectAdmin via the phone number on there web site for weeks now. It forwards or is a Telus Cellular Phone which has a voice mailbox that is full. They have no responded to any of my email requests.

Does anyone know if this company still exists?

I've emailed support and sales and there has been no reply in weeks. This is not the way to run a company, and I'll be sure to let everyone know to not purchase from this company due to non responsiveness. Someone can't buy a monthly hosting control panel with the fear of a company disapearing or not answering e-mails.

I'm assuming that you didn't make the subject of your emails "Make money fast!" or include any mention of Nigerians in the body? ;)

have noticed the same recently, they seem to be either too busy or maybe giving up.

It's one thing for a company to not offer phone support. Although for a company in this business they should, or at least have other companies do the support for them.. And I'm sure a lot are interested. It's another thing to list a phone number of a Telus Cell Phone that the voice mail box is full. I mean come on, how hard is it to set up a real phone line. In addition, how hard is it to respond to e-mail. So like you said they have either given up, which in that case they should take down the site notify customers of that. Hire new employees. Or do something, not nothing.

well this is the risk of 1 man bands, am I right in guessing directadmin is essentially 2 people, 1 for sales and john for support and coding? If so then it only takes for john to call it a day and the whole thing is stopped.

I believe that is so judging by some past dealings where they took the show on the road so to speak when traveling as they could not get phone calls and email was slow at times.

One man or very small firms are why I can never get any programming work done for many yrs (and I need it done real bad). Losing lots of money due to lack of a programmer. Every time I go to hire a programmer it is a huge hassle and worry.

They either want 50% cash up front and balance near completion, or if not paying 50% in advance they take 12 mos to do a job and then quit not finishing jobs and never reply to contacts again.

I will not send 50% (sometimes thousands of $) in advance to a 1 or 2 man operation as there is no continuity if the principle quits or something else happens i.e. going out of business or worse yet. IMO this very well could be a problem with DA judging by the lack of response witnessed at this forum and also by them not fixing major bugs in the full yr I have been wth DA.

I got a reply now so they still alive at least :)

Iam hoping it is just over work and when this new resell system comes out for directadmin things will be better.

Da should really reply to this thread and set the record straight. I on the other hand have not gone longer then a day to my support emails.

The support and responses here is usually top notch but indeed lately they are really quiet. Hope everything is ok with the guys. But still. DA updates are frequently being sent out so my guess they are up to something ;)

Hello,

Of course we still exist ;)

Although our phone number has been down for a while now, all e-mail inquiries are responded to in a timely manner and important support requests are handled with extra priority. You should have received an answer by e-mail to any pre-sales questions within 14-24 hours (perhaps up to 36 hours on a weekend). The only thing we can do right now is take your e-mail address and check the logs..

You can also try emailing: [email protected] to see if that works.

Mark

I knew they still existed because every time someone added a post on this thread they were kind enough to mail me and tell me ;)

Is that because you no longer offer any telephone contact? Just wondering as I can't think of another reason it would be down more than a very short time.

I remember DA posting a LONG time ago that they did not like providing phone support due to how inefficient it is. I imagine DA was referring to the people who call for trivial reasons and manage to ramble on and on wasting lots of time. :)

Of course, I'm only assuming this based on my memory; I don't know anything for sure. :)

Personally, I strongly prefer well handled email or forum support over phone. Having been on both sides of the issue, I agree that phone support is very inefficient in most cases. It's usually when email isn't answered that someone goes looking for a phone number :(.

Agree the best benefit of a published support number is the reassurance that if emails or online supt tickets do *not* solve your problem then you have the comfort of knowing you may reach someone.

I continue to find it amazing a firm can deal with the public selling high priced items especially involving ongoing monthly billings and not also offer phone support as an option.

Telephone just wastes huge amounts of time. I think it's acceptible in our business that we can only contact DA by e-mail.

Yep and judging by the amount of posts on the forum each day they could not handle all the requests.

BUT if you advertise telephone support then give telephone support.
