Domain Exists

I am trying to add a domain but I keep getting "That domain already exists." I cannot find the domain anywhere. I thought the only check DA did was against named.conf. The domain is not in named.conf anywhere.

What else does DA check against before adding a domain?

I guess it may be in /etc/virtual, or maybe in the pointers cache of an user.

As usual I spend a couple of hours researching and then soon after I ask the question here I find the answer. The only reason I found it is because I tried to add the domain to another machine on which I knew I had never tried to add it previously. So I checked that machine's named.conf file and sure enough it was there. The only way that can happen is if Multi Server Setup is set up which is was.

So the answer was the domain had not been deleted from the remote machine's named.conf file for whatever reason. It would be nice to know in the error message that it is the remote machine's problem and not the local machine.

Of course, I didn't think about that. And I'm with you, the error should be a little more verbose about the cause.
