Doubts about the configuration

I have SpamAssassin installed and I have the impression that it is not fully configured because it gets spam in the mailbox, which is blocked after being added manually.
Do I have to configure something else for my SpamAssassin to check emails with external RBL databases?
I only have a common configuration in Directadmin.
