Hello I have DirectAdmin installed on one of my VPS's.

I think it is using Dovecot, as I see that running in the services, however I seem to not be able to be able to connect to my mail through IMAP, which I heavily prefer over POP3, which appears to work.

Also, setting up an mail account, it only mentions the POP3 and SMTP servers.

How can I enable IMAP? I tried looking for the DoveCot config in /etc/ but it is not there. Or do I have to enable it in DirectAdmin?

IMAP is enabled by fault. If you can't reach it check as follows:

Make sure that squirrelmail runs. If it does, then IMAP is working on your server.

If Squirrelmail works then verify that port 143 is open in your firewall, both in and out, for TCP/IP.

Still no luck.

The Outlook settings that DA gives you don't even define IMAP.

However Squrrelmail logs in. And there is no firewall installed.

Have you tried setting up IMAP for Outlook manually? I don't use Outlook (I don't use MS desktops) so I can't help further; perhaps someone else will rspond.

Yes I have tried manually.

I am using mail.MYDOMAIN for IMAP, if that is correct?

I have also tried setting up on Mail.app

I had done updates, so I had todo it anyway.

OK

Now Mail Clients will Login, however no mail is downloaded. And SquirrelMail reports mail in the inbox.

The only updates I know of that require a server restart are required kernel updates.

How did you update Dovecot? Are there any errors showing up in your /var/log/messages file?
