Hello,

I installed yesterday "dovecot" from the build script. But now i'm unable to login in on my root account, even DA users couldn't login with the normal-already existing email account. Its telling me: "Internal Login Error" or something.

I have already searched around, added "root: rene" to my alias file but it doesn't work. There are some very important mails waiting for me and i can't find any solution for this, very, big problem.

I hope there is some one that can tell me how to fix this. DoveCot is update date and the self created email accounts working normally.

- Rene.

Your alias file isn't the right place. You need an alias file for the servername.

Which DA doesn't create by default.

But your DA users should be able to log in and get their mail. Did you do the:
Code:
# ./build todovecot
command?

My directadmin users get there emails, no problem at all. But the emails that are created by DirectAdmin are not accesable.

And yes i have already used that command.

Please explain not accessible.

To me it means they're delivered but when logging in your users don't see them.

Did you create the alias file in the right place as I mentioned?

It ill give the "Internal Login Failure", and the alias file is on the good director.
Full message:

"Internal login failure. Refer to server log for more information."

Have you checked the log? If dovecot doesn't have a log of it's own, then you should see information in /var/log/maillog.

Was the other thread I responded to also yours? Dovecot won't allow a root login because to do so can easily be a security issue. root should never log in to access mail; the mail should be forwarded somewhere.
