Hello
my server doesn't send any email to valid yahoo mails and also it doesn't recive any email from yahoo
i check it from webmail and Outlook
when i want send email to yahoo both return this error:
Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable
Server replied: 550

please help me
:( :( :(

Yahoo can be very unwilling to talk to other mailservers at times.

I can't help you further because you didn't give us the domain name that's having problems.

But you can help yourself.

Make sure reverse DNS is working for the domain that's having problems. Not just that there's a DNS record, but that it's working.

Make sure you've got a working SPF record and that it has your main system IP# in it.

Your settings appear to be fine for sending and receiving email; see:

http://www.dnsreport.com/tools/dnsreport.ch?domain=aryads.com

If yahoo won't accept email from your webmail account and is telling you the mailbox is unavailable; I'd be included to believe them, though of course they may have a problem on their end.

You can write to [email protected], which they're supposed to answer.

I don't know if they will or not.

Hi!
I have that same problem....
When I send @ to wp.pl I have error:

SquirrelMail: Error 550 - Mailbox Unavabile
OE/TheBat/etc: Server returns 550
:(

When I send mails to poczta.wp.pl then it's OK (that same to other domains)...
Why? I must download default config of exim ??

System : RH 9.0

Regards

You have the same problem as who or as what?

I don't see a similarity between your problem and any other problem in this thread.

Are you trying to send mail to an account at wp.pl?

Or are you trying to log in to an account at wp.pl?

Is wp.pl on your server?

Mailbox unavailable is pretty specific. If the domain is on your server, then you've got something misconfigured. If not, then there's nothing you can do because the address doesn't exist.

:( this adress exist :( [eg [email protected]] :( from others mail server I can send mail to this adress..

Check your outgoing email logs to see if your server is attempting the delivery, and if so, what information the wp.pl server is returning.

The email logs are at:

/var/log/exim/mainlog

Ident runs on port 113.

Which is strange as I believe I have that port blocked on firewall as well but I don't have an issue. *shrug*
We block inbound ident queries but we don't block outbound ident queries.

Actually I finally opened up my firewall (APF) and I actually block the port as far as I can see. Not sure why I never had the issue. But from looking at it within Google, the ident solution shows up a lot.

Had a similar issue ( from what i understand here, unless i am wrong ).

We tried to send to Yahoo from our domain, and never got anything to the yahoo account... this one stuped even the best admin's at our company ! As it turned out, somehow, some way we were on a list of "open relays / spammers" at yahoo. yahoo's list is not posted anywhere, and does not use the conventional ORDB.

We had to submit a ticket to yahoo for re - testing, and for their guidance to resolve this issue.

Try this link out for size, it's yahoo's support area for this sort of thing.. it might provide you with some information.

Let me know !

thanks,

Yahoo produces a different error for that I believe. It would be dropping the connection, not going as far as looking up the mailbox.

Mike,
Actually the error we were seeing was an error 550 on this exact error. Not to doubt you, but you might want to at least take a look. We were all shocked when we got yahoo's response on this!

We were all a little taken back by that response ....... pasted below for your / group review.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

We have retested the IP address you submitted and it appears that the open proxy/relay situation with this IP has been resolved. We have now removed the block from our servers for this IP address. However, please note that it may take approximately one week for the changes to take full effect.

Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Customer Care.

Hope this offers a little insight, or possibly some help !
