I am confuse with the Email setup by DA.

What is the proper username for sending and receiving emails.

will that be [email protected] or just username

My question when I check my email via domain.com/webmail it only ask me to input username i.e. username

But when I check email via Squirrelmail it ask me to input [email protected] ? Same with Email I am confuse I dont know which is the right one to use.

Thanks

Doesnt make any sense ? If the username is [email protected] than why its letting me check mail via webmail like

username : email

Also same as with my outlookexpress sometime it ask me to input full email address as an username and sometime just the username

Any clue.

Thanks

no clue sorry. I know you can enter just the username "admin: if that is the main username of the account.

hi there.

there are two kinds of email accounts on a machine. system and virtual.

when you create a new user it auto makes you your first email account being [email protected]

to check that email account exim checks /etc/password for authentication so you just need to the username to check it.

for example you made a user called jason with the domain mydomain.com

da auto creates the email address [email protected]. to access that you would check squirrelmail/or a mail client using

username: jason
password: systempassword here

then if you login the control panel and make a new pop email account called [email protected] that is a virtual account and requires the full email address for authentication.

username: [email protected]
password: the one you setup in da

ok I got it now so that means if I add a domain name and what ever username assigns to that its a master username ? And what ever email accounts I will create will be virtual .

thanks

exactly.

master always uses the just username, any after that is all virtual and require full email address to login both via squirrelmail or outlook.

not sure why you would want to do this as ubi uses pop3 to check mail and squirrelmail uses imap. Using ubi everytime a client checks their webmail it will make a copy of their message storing two copies taking up twice the space.

check this thread, you should be able to figure it out even though it shows how to make the default email client squirellmail.
