Dear Sir,

I am a newbie here. I managed to install and configure DirectAdmin for my website; they work well.

However, I can receive emails in RoundCube, but when sending an email, it shows successfully sent - but nothing is received in the destination email.

I realised that Hetzner.com where I rent my vps server has blocked the following ports:

25 and 465

for all new customers.

I just want to be able to send and receive email for my website in order to communicate with other bloggers.

I think it is not issue with Roundcube; it is the issue with port 25 being blocked by Hetzner.

Is it possible to tell Roundcube to send using port 26 or 587 instead of 25?

I appreciate your support.

You might get your provider to open those ports for you once you pay your first invoice (actually the second I believe)

Nope, if you spam...they will BAN you from their services.
Only if you're a notorious spammer. We have several servers there and we are very happy with their service. However, those are dedicated servers, we don't use their VPS systems.
We also had some times that an account was abused and spam was going out, but we never got banned, only on complaints we got a mail about it and that we had to fix the issue. However if it happens often, then indeed they will take appropriate measures and that is a good thing.

I have asked them; no replies yet.
I would wait for their answer because the answer of @Active8 won't help you. You can get your Exim to listen on a different port, but MTA to MTA traffic is still on port 25. So it won't help for outgoing mail. You need port 25 for that, there is no way around if you want to run your own mailserver.
Unless you use an external mail domain to send mail. But then you need either port 465 or 587 open.

Just had a search for you, seems that Hetzner indeed does this for the Cloud accounts (which is VPS), there are more out there (like Amazon) doing this. If I understood well, this is at least for 1 month. Maybe you can get it opened via a support request (ticket) but I'm not sure.

So if you want to use this for hosting and they don't open it, you have a problem.
If you want the port open and Hetzner does not do it, you might try another provider, maybe Contabo. At this moment, they don't block 25 yet as far as I know.

I can understand it. Growing amount of spammers and website owners which do not keep their stuff up to date, so hacked accounts or leak scripts which are being abused.
And "admins" which only know how to get into their panel, so not real admins, no clue of what is going on beneath the GUI, running on Usermin or whatever. All those systems are fed up with spam. I wouldn't wonder if at some point all VPS providers will start doing this by default and only open on request or something like that.

Hetzner has opened port 25 after I sent my request.

Many thanks
i am also facing this problem can u please help me about it. when i request hetzner for port 25 unblocking they asked me two questions.

What kind of mails will be sent?

How many mails will be approximately sent?

after replying this email the reply me this.

Unfortunately we do not provide Cloud servers for such use case. Please consider using mass mail service providers instead.

Why double post ?
Anyway, they don't want to open port 25 for you, order dedicated server or move your services to other provider
