Email Keep copy on server

Hello everyone,

I would like to ask -

If an user uses Outlook (or Outlook Express), and keep a copy of email on server, in which condition would the Outlook re-download all email from the dovecot POP3 server, and cause a duplicated email happen in the mail client?

Since we are planning to upgrade OS and Hardware for some of our existing servers. Currently, it is running CentOS 4 with dovecot and exim already, and planning to upgrade to CentOS 5, but the hostname keep the same.

If I remember correctly, the uid of the email is recorded by Outlook, and that is how it knows it has or has not downloaded emails.

I don't know if this helps...
