Hi guys.

I know this is easy and its happened before (and I have searched the forums!) - but its Saturday afternoon and I cannot remember for the life of me the answer to my problem.

I have just rented a new server and they set up DA as part of the setup (I did ask for LID / UID and I would do it!) so not 100% what has been done and what hasn't.

I moved an account from an old server to this one to test things out and all appears to work apart from the email.

I get the following when trying to connect to the server:

Task 'Fatboy - Receiving' reported error (0x80042108) : 'Outlook cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'

If someone can put me out of my misery and remind me (brain is going) what I should be looking for I would be eternally greatful!

Just to add on - an account that is freshly created on the server says it connects and checks for email without a problem but does not download the email that is sat there waiting for it.

I see the email coming in to the mailbox by watching mainlog :)

Forgot to say - I think sending out is fine...just incoming doesn't work.

Make sure your firewall is not blocking port 110 tcp.

Stopped the firewall and still nothing.

The account I restored from a second server refuses to connect to the mail server to download mail (that is there)

The second account, freshly created on the box, says it connects to download mail, completes the process by no mail is downloaded, even though there is some there.

Are you using dovecot?

OK - maybe something to do with Outlook!!
Tried the account in Outlook Express and everything downloaded fine.

Typical - 75 spam messages already, reminds me I have to install spamassassin!

AFter hours of hair ripping out - the problem was an extra '1' in the port setting for the POP server.

I will now write out a 100 times, POP is not on port 1110 :D
