Email server has stopped responding

Hi there,

Weired stuff.
If I look at the pop3 service, it is running fine.
Telneting to the site with the port 110 after is responding OK

telnet 212.199.214.164 110

Pulls a response from the server.
yet, the server refuses to give any emails.

Any suggestions?

Using outlookExpress I get a 'time-out'.



Ok.. so let me use Squirrlemail.
Well.. I can't get that one to work either:

Using 1.4.4:
Error opening ../data/default_pref
Default preference file not found or not readable!
Please contact your system administrator and report this error.

So between the two,.. I'm stuck!

The server does send out email out as I created a new reseller account and it sent out the welcome email.

Confirmed same problem on my end too! Email service has been defunct for +24hrs.
Squirrel Mail is snaffu too......... I feel like I'm being held hostage by the server!

Worth mentioning:

I upgraded to da_exim-4.44-1 yesterday.
Does this have an impact?
Any suggestions?

What's the response from the server? Have you tried talking POP to it? e.g.:

Whatever it was.. It resolved.
While I was searching for similar responses here, I decided to do a Full STOP of the pop3 server using the DA.
I waited 20 seconds then Started it.
That's it!
It started working fine since then.

What is the latest version that should be installed?
I'm using WBEL and have:

+OK POP3 Welcome to vm-pop3d 1.1.7e

I didn't upgrade or do squat.....perhaps that answers your question about self infliction
