I cannot seem to update to the ewest version of DA, when I run update through the Admin panel I get the following error message in my DA message center:

Subject: *** An error has occurred while trying to update the software *** Today at 08:00
This is an automated message notifying you that an error has occurred while trying to update the software.
The generated error message is as follows:

Error restoring file /usr/local/directadmin/update.tar.gz :

Please contact JBMC-Software, including the error message. Failure to do so could result in an inactive control panel.

Be sure to notify DA, as they say in the message. Writing a message here does NOT constitute notifying them; you should send an email to their support address.

Jeff

I did that, but haven't heard back or got an automated confirmation that the message was recieved. Plus I thought maybe someone else had seen this problem before, and knew of a fix.

Up until now I have never had trouble updating DA.

I still have not recieved a reply from the support team. Whats up with this? I tried to manually update here is what happened:

[root@server root]# cd /usr/local/directadmin
[root@server directadmin]# wget -O update.tar.gz https://www.directadmin.com/cgi-bin/daupdate?uid=XXX\&lid=XXXX
--15:29:32-- https://www.directadmin.com/cgi-bin/daupdate?uid=XXX&lid=XXXX
=> `update.tar.gz'

Sounds lke the file is corrupt, maybe the tarball didn't get made correctly on their end. You might have to wait for them to release a new file. However, I upgraded with no problem a couple nights ago.

If someone getting that error is willing to attach the file in question to a reply to this thread I'll take a look at it.

In addition to the last posts the file is corrupt.
When you look at the file size it is just 119 kbyte.

We are also experiencing errors with updating on Fedora Core 3. Hopefully someone of DA can send us a proper update.tar.gz or replace the file on the update location.

i realize this is an old problem. i have an old version of DA running on a Fedora Core box, and am running into this error.

any help?

Did you read any of the posts? I just skimmed and you've got these options:
1. Notify DirectAdmin
2. Attach a copy of the file in question so Jeff can look at it (if he's still willing).

Yes, I did read the many messages telling people to notify DirectAdmin, which I did.

Turns out it was an erroneous error message of sorts, as the update had completed itself successfully, and there were no issues with my license at all.

I figured it wouldn't hurt to check here, to see if others had run into something similar, as at the time I did not know if the error was legit or just a freak occurence.

But yeah, I bothered support with this erroneous error. They looked into it promptly and I was assured everything was fine.

Thanks.
