Hi!

people who sends mails on this server also receive this message...

554 permanent problems with the remote server domain.com

Why??

Try looking at your log files. The senders log files won't tell you what is going on with your server, other than the connection is dropping. You should see some sort of error or description of what is happening on your server. Look at the /var/log/exim/* files.

Hi.

That's precisely the problem. We can't find anything in the logs. It's as though the emails don't even hit the server at all. Looked in all possible exim and mail logs i could think of.

Do you know if there are logs for the spamd processes? Its the last possible thing to look at.

At this point, we moved the MX records in question to another machine and we are in fact now receiving all emails that we weren't before!

So problem is most certainly exim. It's odd because this started just a few weeks ago. Was fine until then. I'm wondering if an exim reinstall/upgrade could help. If so what version should i use? 4.52 is on now.

I should also try to completely disable all spam checking. But if it works with spam check removed, how can i know why those messages are being rejected?

If there is nothing in the logs, then I would suspect a firewall blocking access. Try using dnsreport.com once you change your MX back, and see what they say.
