It may or may not work, but you'd have to us the DA specific exim.conf file, which will ignore everything related to any difference in exim-SA unless you create your own custom exim.conf file, with the changes exim-sa requires and the changes DA requires.

The reason we haven't tried to do this is that the SpamAssassin no longer works according to how DA implements it in the Control Panel.

If you want to start studying it, go for it; if you can get it to work with all the DirectAdmin user controls you'll be making a great contribution to the DA community.

I'll have to look into it. Theoretically it shouldn't be that hard to do. I would think it would just be a mater of copying and pasting the right elements from the exim.conf from the one that comes from exim-sa into exim.

Do you know if there is anyway to get a demo copy of DA to fiddle with this? I'd hate to take the mail down for my server while I'm working on getting this to work. If I have to, that's what I'll do... but it'd be better if I could setup a test environment. Thanks.

Okay is there anything special about the DA exim install besides the config file? Are there any additional options that are configured in? Basically do I need to go compile all this from source to do this, or can I just do "yum install exim-sa" which also grabs the exim RPM to install and then work on the config files from there.

According to the exim-sa sight, technically no changes to the exim.conf file are required (just advisable).

DA and SA are to some extent integrated through the control panel but I know others have used generic SA updates. That's why I say try it.
