After I upgraded my fc2 to fc4 using yum
directadmin refuses to work.
Is this a licence file os issue or something else?

Code:
[root@fon /]# service directadmin start
Starting DirectAdmin: [ OK ]
[root@fon /]# service directadmin status
directadmin dead but subsys locked
[root@fon /]# cd /usr/local/directadmin/
[root@fon directadmin]# ./directadmin

Could you tell us exactly how you did this? I have Fedora Core 2 and numerous bugs that need fixed by going to Fedora Core 4. I have no idea how to update though. I would like to just move to CentOS but have so many email users on this box that it would be a nightmare.

We've been able to move users between servers without any email problems at all.

We've been able to move users between servers without any email problems at all.

We have a lot of email users on our server. Over 8gigs of data and mostly email. I have an automated backup run once a week on Sunday. I noticed it takes about 5 hours. So it would be about 5 hours to backup old server and another 5 hours to restore on new server I am guessing. Thats a lot of down time unless I am looking at this wrong.

I would like to move from Fedora to CentOS since I hear its a more stable release but I must keep downtime to absolute minimum.

If you do not want to do this yourself, I would contact Rack911 at www.rack911.com. They are by far the best for these kind of jobs. They are quick, skilled, and very inexpensive. They should also be able to complete the job with no downtime. We've used them on several projects and we're always satisfied with the results.

And we're fast, skilled, and some would say quite expensive.

But I don't think anyone can do it faster than it can be done.

That said, it still needs to be done, because with all those mailboxes you need to be on a server that you can get maintenance for, for at least four years.
