Hi there. I would appreciate some tips.

Situation:
I have been using Direct Admin on user level since 2008
Since 2 months I have been using Direct Admin on reseller level
Since 1 day I have switched to a VPS with Direct Admin on Administrator level.

I got all technical stuff working however I have no clue what the best way to organize my accounts is.

Basically I will only "sell" to individual customers meaning I do not need the reselling functionality. Therefore I am wondering

1) Can I skip the reseller level or is there a downside to that in terms of doing stuff like backups.
2) Where do I put my main domain? Do I Put it on the admin account at the user level? Or do I create a seperate reseller or user account?

I hope someone is willing to share some experience!

I've been using DirectAdmin and managing servers for other users since (if I recall correectly) 2003. I've developed some good practices for my company and which I recommend to others:

Never put any users into your user level. If you do it will be hard to move them later (for example, should you decide you want your own site on it's own server for any reason).

Never use the reseller level. For the same reasons; you may need to move clients to a different server, for load balancing, as you grow.

Instead set up one or more resellers. Personally I use multiple resellers to separate out clients, for example, for different hosting plans.

This way I can use different 'welcome' emails for different hosting plans, instead of a generic welcome email.

Keep this in mind:

When you send any server-level emails (welcome, or emails you click to send) you'll be using the return name and email address you set up at the user level of the admin login, so be sure to set that up before you delete the default domain. If you no longer have a default domain at the admin user level, you can set one up to set the email address, and then remove it;
