FR: DNSSEC support in DA

John, if you read this, please drop a comment. Is this going to be a future plan?

Please add dnssec support TLD NL is the toplevel with the most signed dnssec domainnames. I want to be able to sign mine NL domainnames.

Hello,

DNSSec appears to be a popular feature request. We can look at adding it as a new major project.
Note that we're still finishing up with CB2, so please be patient! :)

John

If PowerDNS could be supported it is probably the easiest option possible to support DNSSEC for multiple years. You can add it and forget about it (and it will validate for the next 10-20 years without problems). Next week a plugin will become available for all hosters to support DNSSEC with DirectAdmin :)

Who is publishing the plugin? Will it be totally transparent in use? In other words, will adding, removing, and changing DNS zones and records work as they do now, including from the MX Records page?

Will it continue to keep BIND style zone files in same location/format as DirectAdmin does now?

It will not use BIND (or BIND style zone files), it will use a PowerDNS (with gMySQL backend) slave with and will work with BIND (DirectAdmin) as hidden master. This way you can change DNS zones in DA and as long as BIND sends the notify it will work. It will add a button in DA to get the DNSSEC related data (DNSKEY/DS record).

We (SinnerG) will publish the plugin, a free version just contains a few files with limited documentation. A paid version includes (installation) support (free when you use our name servers). If DA wants to include this (and possible other things we do with DA) they can send me an email.

Sounds good, as using BIND already running on DirectAdmin as hidden master will make sure it works with all current (and probably future) DirectAdmin management features for DNS.

Jeff
