Some users get a very big index.

Hello,

I did not find such a way yet. But you might try FTS-Flatcurve instead of FTS-Xapian. A manual installation is required, until Dovecot 2.4 is released.

we uninstalled it on all servers, the I/O was enormous and ‘consumed’ almost 2TB of space across all systems
