Where's The ANY Key?
After numerous Googles it's apparently possible to configure SpamAsassin to delete Spam emails on the server (eg /dev/null them). To do this would be absolutely wonderful, but HOW ?!?!?!

I wouldn't trust Spam Assassins judgement on whats spam and whats not TMC

Spamblocker yes but Spam Assassin no

Just a personal opinion :)

Why throw away emails you've already received, and spent all those processor cycles on? Especially since you've accepted responsibility for them, and SpamAssassin does make mistakes.

Instead use SpamBlocker. First of all you don't waste any machine cycles on the spam at all; you just refuse it before you even read the contents, based on server reputation.

And second, since you refuse to accept the email you've never accepted responsbility for it so it's up to the server trying to send it to you to figure out what to do with it.

And third, when you refuse it you actually send the sending server a message explaining why, so if SpamBlocker has made a mistake, at least the sender knows the mail is being misidentified as spam and can do something about it.

Posts much appreciated and opinions shared, matrixx and jlasman; worthy of a separate thread.

Getting back on topic, can someone answer the question please?

PS: Not sure why JL mentions "emails already received" since all SpamAssasin seems able to do is move messages into a "spam folder" and leave them on the server.

When Jeff says emails already received he means received onto the server.

The spam folder that SA refers to is at user level and accessable from each users account in their control panel.

It is the users decision to move the spam there for review later and I don't see it as an admins decision to delete mail in a users mailbox. Infact I'd say an admin has no right to do this.

Spam Assassin is no way 100% accurate and the user who sends the spam to a seperate spam folder may well occasionally find legitimate email in there too.

As it's at user level the user would have to say if they want the spam deleted automatically or not and this is not in the GUI.

So I don't think you can do it - and even if you could - you shouldn't - and it would be a very irresponsible option for spam assassin to offer - to delete potential spam without review. It leaves absolutely no space for error OR more importantly to establish why the message was classified as spam so the problem can be rectified.

Maybe if on your numerous google searches you come across people who say you can do it - ring them and ask them how they do it - don't email them as your mail may well get classified as spam and deleted like you want to do with your users mail!
