How do I Port Forward using iptables?

Hi there

I want to open up a port eg 2800 on my vps and I'm unsure on how to do this, I'm wating to change change the default port 2222 to another one which I know how to do.

I'm unfamiliar with shell access so if you can guide me on this that would be great. I have putty and winSCP.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If you're running linux on your VPS and if your VPS has iptables control enabled, then this may help you. Don't play with iptables unless you're confident you know what you're doing and why, or you can destroy access to your server.
